Angels In Heaven Are Rejoicing You Are Saved
God tells us that when a person becomes a Christian the angels in heaven rejoice. That is the message of Luke 15:10.
. . . there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents. Luke 15:10 (NASB)
Since you are reading this page, we are assuming that you have asked God to forgive your sins and give you eternal life. What follows are seven steps that you need to take. Please carefully read each step since we are concerned that you are a Christian and will go to heaven when you die.
Ten Steps God Wants You To Take!
These ten steps are practical and necessary. Please do not skip any of them.
1) Be Confident You Are a Christian
The first step you need to take is to be confident you are a Christian. It would be foolish to think you are a Christian when you are not and, as a result, go to hell when you die. Therefore, it is important to know that a true Christian believes Jesus is God, Jesus died for your sins and was resurrected from the dead, you have repented of your sins, desire to be forgiven and have submitted yourself to Christ. If these statements are true of you, then you are a Cristian. We encourage you to read A Person Becomes a Christian When . . .
These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life. 1 John 5:13 (NASB)
2) Begin Reading the Bible — Know More About God
The second step you need to take is to read “God’s Great Passion.” It will reveal that God wants a close relationship with you. You will also discover one very important thing that God wants from you now that you are a Christian. Jeremiah 9:23-24 tells us that He wants you to know Him. This requires that you read the Bible. We encourage you to first completely read the gospel of John at least three times. When you finish, start reading through the Bible in one year.
Thus says the LORD, “Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches; but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD who exercises lovingkindness, justice and righteousness on earth; for I delight in these things,” declares the LORD. Jeremiah 9:23-24 (NASB)
3) Confess Your Sins Every Day — Keeps The Relationship Fresh
The third step you need to take is to confess your sins every time you sin. Do this at least once a day. Now you may wonder why. The answer is that when a person becomes a Christian, God forgives all our sins — past, present and future sins. Christians are also declared to be as righteous as Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21). That is, God will never find fault with us because of our sins. But we still need to confess our sins daily because we still sin (1 John 1:9). For more information visit “Am I still a Christian if I continue sinning?” This study will explain why Christians still need to confess their sins.
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us. 1 John 1:9-10 (NASB)
4) Pray Every Day — Talk To God
The fourth step you need to take is to pray every day. God tells us that He enjoys our prayers and wants us to talk with Him. It is wonderful news to know that God wants us to talk with Him. It is important to know that God always answers our prayers, but He only answers them according to His will — according to what is best for us. For information about how to pray, visit The Lord’s Prayer and What Jesus Taught About Prayer.
For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil. 1 Peter 3:12 (ESV)
And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. 1 John 5:14 (NASB)
5) Ask The Holy Spirit To Fill You
The fifth important step you need to take is to ask the Holy Spirit to fill you. That is, to take control of your life. Ephesians 5:7-18 tells us this is God’s will for your life. Galatians 5:16-23 tells us that when the Holy Spirit regularly takes control of our lives, Christians sin less and the fruit of the Spirit grows in our lives. This is essential for spiritual growth. For more information read God’s Will – Be Filled With The Spirit.
Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit . . . Ephesians 5:17-18 (NASB)
6) Locate a Good Bible Teaching Church
The sixth step you need to take is to find a church that teaches the Bible verse-by-verse and in-depth. The article How do I know which church to attend? will be helpful in finding a church. We encourage you to read the following articles. If you need help in finding a church, please contact us and we will try to help.

7) You Need To Be Baptized — Declare You Are A Christian
The seventh step you need to take is to be baptized in water. The early Christians were baptized as a sign to everyone else that they were Christians. It was a symbol of dying to our old self and when we come up out of the water, it symbolizes new life in Christ. We encourage you to read the article, “Is baptism symbolic?” Further, it is important to know that baptism does not save a person. This is explained in two articles “Must we be baptized to be saved?” and “Is Baptism Required For Salvation?” Baptism should be public since it is a testimony to others of your faith in Christ. Therefore, ask your pastor to baptize you.
8) Start Learning the Bible — God Wrote This Book
The eighth step you need to take is to start a systematic study of the Bible in order to have a broader understanding of it. We recommend a series called “Solid Roots“that we have developed. It is free. Study each lesson and check your answers. As you study, we encourage you to submit questions to us if you need help or ask questions of your pastor. The Solid Roots series will guide you through some basic truths about the Christian faith.
9) Choose an Excellent Bible and Study It
The ninth step you need to take is to choose a good Bible. You will want to select a Bible that is most accurately translated from the original languages in which it was written. The best modern Bibles are the English Standard Version, the Lexahm English Bible, the New American Standard Bible and the New King James Version Bible. For more information read What Bible would you recommend?
10) Tell Others About Jesus Christ
The tenth step you need to take is to tell others about Jesus. This is Jesus’ command for every Christian. Romans 10:15 tells us that God looks favorably upon those who share the good news about Jesus — how to go to heaven.
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Matthew 28:19-20
