The Iran War, known as Epic Fury, is not mentioned anywhere in the pages of the Bible. Yet, the military defensive action of 28 February 2026 against Iran by the United States of America and Israel reveals that the world is significantly closer to the fulfillment of a series of extremely important biblical prophecies. I will discuss three of them and explain why Epic Fury is so very important.
Map of Iran and Its Neighbors
Prophecy of The Tribulation
The first important prophecy to which I refer is mentioned by the prophets Ezekiel, Daniel, Joel, Zechariah. It is also mentioned by the apostle John, and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The prophecy is about the tribulation after the rapture, the removal of Christians from the earth. At the end of the tribulation, the battle of Armageddon and the second coming of Christ will occur. That is the message of these prophecies.
The prophecy about the tribulation is fascinating because Daniel 9:27 tells us that it starts with a peace treaty made by a world leader. The prophecy is described in Daniel 2:42-44 and Daniel 7:7-8, 19-22. In those passages we are told that ten nations will join the world leader in making a peace agrement with Israel. In Daniel 9:27 we are told the “covenant” or agreement is made for seven years.
Abomination of Desolation
But the peace agreement will not last for seven years because after 3.5 years, the world leader will break the agreement and enter the temple in Jerusalem and declare that he is God (2 Thessalonians 2:3-4). Jesus Christ confirmed the truthfulness of this Daniel 9:27 prophecy when He prophesied in Matthew 24:15 that the Daniel prophecy will be fulfilled when He said,
Therefore when you see the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand) . . . Matthew 24:15 (NASB)
The prophecy of the abomination of desolation is also mentioned in Daniel 12:11.
Now, we will stop and very carefully notice the words of Jesus in Matthew 24:15. He told us that the abomination of desolation will occur in the holy place, that is in the temple in the city of Jerusalem in Israel.
Watching the Signs
Next, we must ask ourselves what do these prophecies reveal about God’s plan for the future of this earth? The first major point is that after the city of Jerusalem was defeated by the Roman army in 70 A.D., Israel did not exist as a nation for almost 2,000 years. Then it returned to the land in 1948. The point is that in order for the prophecy of the abomination of desolation to occur, the nation had to return to Palestine and repossess it’s land. There are also other prophecies that tell us that Israel would return. One such example is Ezekiel 36:19-24 where God foretold that Israel would eventually return to the land from which He had scattered them. The nation of Judea had been scattered to nations around the world by the Babylonian army in 586 B.C. While it is true that some Israelites did return to the land and occupy the land during the time of Christ, most of them were still scattered among many nations. After the Roman army conquered Jerusalem, Israel was completely scattered once again. So, when Israel returned in 1948, that was a major event. Israelites, or the Jews, continue to return. That had to occur in order for the prophecy of the abomination of desolation to be fulfilled.
The second major point is that a temple must be built in the city of Jerusalem in order for the abomination of desolation to occur in the holy place, or the Holy of Holies. This reveals that Christ prophesied that the city of Jerusalem had to exist again in order for the temple to exist in order for the abomination of desolation to occur. It appears that the temple will be rebuilt after the peace agreement is signed. In conclusion, Israel had to return to the land and a temple must be constructed in Jerusalem.
Third, we have already mentioned that a peace agrement with Israel and ten nations will start the tribulation. The rapture will occur just before that. But in order for the peace agreement to occur, Israel had to return to the land. That has happened already.
So, what has happened recently? The United States and Israel are defeating the nation of Iran, which in recent years has been Israel’s major enemy. President Trump has been encouraging surrounding Arab nations to sign the Abraham Peace Accords. So far ten nations have not signed the agreement. But since Epic Fury has started, we have been told that other nations have expressed interest in signing. Is it possible that ten Arab nations could sign the Abraham Peace Accords soon and promise peace to Israel? Is it possible that a world leader will rise to lead this peace agreement and start the tribulation?
While we cannot answer the question, one truth is very clear. We can see various events that indicate these biblical prophecies could be fulfilled in the near term. It is also possible that the Abraham Peace Accords could be signed by ten nations and it not fulfill the prophecy that Christ spoke of in Matthew 24:15.
Conclusion
In conclusion, we can say with confidence that we are living in very interesting times as we see how the prophecy of the tribulation might soon become a reality. Israel has returned to the land. Israel’s major enemy in the Middle East is losing its power. Multiple efforts have been made by world leaders for many decades to establish peace in the Middle East with Israel. Now we are watching valiant attempts being made to establish peace in the Middle East with Israel. Finally, we have been hearing for years that Israel has all the necessary parts or components to build a temple in Jerusalem and resume Mosaic worship. So, where are we in God’s timeline for our future? We cannot state precisely. Jesus gave us signs of His return in the gospel of Matthew. Only God the Father knows exactly where we are in the timeline.
But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone. Matthew 24:36 (NASB)
Christians are told to pray in Matthew 6:10 for the kingdom to come, and for that to happen, the second coming of Christ must come first. In addition, Jesus encouraged us to be on the alert for His coming in Matthew 25:13.
Be on the alert then, for you do not know the day nor the hour. Matthew 25:13 (NASB)
So, this brief article is written in that spirit. Therefore, be sober and pray as we watch for the second coming of Christ and the kingdom. Share the good news about Christ and the forgiveness of sins by faith in Him as we wait for His return!
