Bible Question:

What happens to the people who have never heard about Christ? Will they go to heaven or hell?

Bible Answer:

What happens to the people who have never heard about Christ? The answer is that anyone who seriously seeks Him will find Him. For God will help you find Him. That is the message of the following verses. if you seek Him, you will find Him,

But from there you will seek the LORD your God, and you will find Him if you search for Him with all your heart and all your soul. Deuteronomy 4:29 (NASB)

The LORD is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth. Psalm 145:18 (NASB)

And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. “I will be found by you,” declares the LORD. Jeremiah 29:13-14 (NASB)

But God is also searching and seeking and drawing the men and women He has chosen to Himself.

For thus says the Lord GOD, “Behold, I Myself will search for My sheep and seek them out.” Ezekiel 34:11 (NASB)

Now let us look at two wonderful examples in the book of Acts of what happens when a person seeks God

What happens to the people who have never heard about Christ?

Two Examples of Seeking God

The first one is the conversion of the eunuch (Acts 8:25-40). The Holy Spirit came to Philip and told him to go find and present Jesus to a certain eunuch who was trying to understand scripture. The eunuch was reading the book of Isaiah. Philip obeyed, found the eunuch and offered to explain the passage the eunuch was reading. Eventually, the eunuch put his trust in Jesus in order to have his sins forgiven.

The second example is found in Acts 10. In verses 1-2, we discover that Cornelius is a God fearing man who is seeking to know more about God. So God pays him a visit through a dream. God also asks the apostle Peter to go to him and explain that Jesus Christ is God as well as our Savior (Acts 10:9-23). So Peter goes to Cornelius (Acts 10:24-33) and preaches the wonderful news about Jesus (Acts 10:34-47). What happens? Cornelius and his entire family believe and trust Christ to forgive them of their sins (Acts 10:43-44).

Everyone Knows God Exists

God has given every man and woman an external and an internal witness that He exists. Romans 1-2 tell us the entire creation screams at us that there is a God.

For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. Romans 1:20 (NASB)

God has also written a code of good and evil in our hearts. The fact that He did this is obvious in two ways. First, the fact that we make value judgments about others shows that we have moral values written in our minds and hearts. (Romans 2:1-2). Next, our own conscience, at least when we were younger, would speak or warn us that we were doing good or evil. God says this is proof that we had an internal witness that there is a God (Romans 2:14-16).

Conclusion:

So, God has given each of us a witness that He exists. He has indicated that anyone who desires to know more about Him will learn. Anyone who seeks after Him with all their heart, like Cornelius and the eunuch will find Him. Many years ago some missionaries told an interesting story about a new group of people in the Philippines. When the missionaries arrived, the leader of the people asked them if they are the ones who were to come and tell them about the one who died on a tree to forgive their sins. What was shocking was that this group of people were newly discovered. The leader explained in the months that followed that God had told them He was sending some people to tell them about Himself.

Jeremiah 29:13-14 gives us God’s promise!  If anyone seeks Him, God will let them find Him.

And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. “I will be found by you,” declares the LORD. Jeremiah 29:13-14 (NASB)

If you call upon Him to save you from the penalty of your sins, He will save you. You will not be disappointed.

WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED. Romans 10:13 (NASB)
