Bible Question:

Do all Christians have a trial period when they first become saved? If so what are some scriptures that can help with the process?

Bible Answer:

Christians do not have a trial period after they believe in Jesus Christ and yield themselves to Him, but they can suffer trials as a result of becoming a Christ-follower. God does not promise that one’s life will be wonderful after we are forgiven and made ready for heaven. In fact, some Christians can suffer and have suffered persecution from their families and friends because they became Christians (Matthew 10:34-35). Others sometime after they become Christ-followers may sense guilt or suffer some form of discipline from the hand of God because of some sin or sins that they are committing (Heb. 12:4-11).

Scripture does not teach that there is trial period for Christians after they believe in Jesus Christ. Yet, some teach that God will clean-up our lives and life will be wonderful after we believe in Jesus Christ. Some have stated that God will heal marriages, repair broken hearts, solve the problems of a church, or make one wealthy. Unfortunately, that is just not true. All that is promised those who believe in Jesus Christ is that our sins will be forgiven, we will have peace with God (Rom. 5:1), and that we will go to heaven when we die (2 Cor. 5:8).

But to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness . . . (NASB) Rom. 4:5

Conclusion:

When we believe in Jesus, we are declared to be righteous, even though we are still sinners. It is an amazing truth that considers us to be holy individuals, ready for heaven, at the moment we believe in Jesus Christ. There is no trial period. There is no waiting period. There is no period of required suffering or initiation rite to becoming a Christian. May the Lord Jesus bless you as you grow in Him.
