Prophecy – Jesus Christ’s Ancestor Is Jesse

Fulfillment
Date: 2 B.C.
He [Jesus] was the son, so it was thought, of Joseph, . . . the son of Jesse, the son of Obed, the son of Boaz, the son of Salmon, the son of Nahshon. Luke 3:23,32 (NIV)
Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit returned to the Jordan . . . Luke 4:1 (NIV)
For I say that Christ has become a servant to the circumcision on behalf of the truth of God to confirm the promises given to the fathers . . . Again Isaiah says, “THERE SHALL COME THE ROOT OF JESSE, AND HE WHO ARISES TO RULE OVER THE GENTILES, IN HIM SHALL THE GENTILES HOPE.” Romans 15:8, 12
Comment
This prophecy simply indicates that one of Jesse’s offspring or children will be the Branch – the Messiah. The Messiah will be filled with the Holy Spirit, i.e. the Holy Spirit will rest on Him. This Branch is Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ’s ancestor is Jesse.
