Jesus Was Not Belived By Many

Prophecy (700-681 B.C.)

Who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?  Isaiah 53:1  (NIV)

Fulfillment

Even after Jesus had done all these miraculous signs in their presence, they still would not believe in him. This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet: Lord, who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed. John 12:37-38  (NIV)

Comment

The book of Isaiah contains many prophesies about the Messiah. Isaiah 61:1 is just one example. In this prophecy we are told that the Messiah would not be believed. That is, Christ was not believed. Imagine what Isaiah must have thought? Why would they reject the long awaited Messiah? Therefore, it is not surprising that many today have rejected Jesus. They have rejected Him because they are in darkness.

I have come as Light into the world, so that everyone who believes in Me will not remain in darkness. John 12:46  (NASB)
