Prophecy (536-530 B.C.)
Then after the sixty-two weeks the Messiah will be cut off and have nothing, and the people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. Daniel 9:26 (NASB)
Fulfillment
And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit. And behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth shook and the rocks were split. Matthew 27:50-51 (NASB)
It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness fell over the whole land until the ninth hour, because the sun was obscured; and the veil of the temple was torn in two. And Jesus, crying out with a loud voice, said, “Father, INTO YOUR HANDS I COMMIT MY SPIRIT.” Having said this, He breathed His last. Luke 23:44-46 (NASB)

In Daniel 9:26, the prophet Daniel predicted the year in which the Messiah would die. The prophecy tells us exactly how many years and days (476 years and 24.7 days) would elapse after Artaxerxes’ decree to rebuild Jerusalem (Nehemiah 2:5-8) to the year and the week before the Messiah or the Christ would die.
