Bible Question:

I have a friend who knows God's truth, but keeps meeting women in hotels or bringing them home to live with him for a short time all for sex. He is 51 years old, and says God will forgive him each time. So he keeps doing this. He hurts them, and then rejects them when he is done with them. I told him he needs to repent which means to flee. He says he will but goes right back to doing the same. Will God deal with this man? I pray for him everyday.

Bible Answer:

Yes, God will deal with him whether he is a Christian or not a Christian. God tells us in the following passage that if we do evil, we will pay a penalty; and if we do well we will be rewarded.

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. (NASB) Galatians 6:7-8

Most Christians understand that God disciplines the followers of Jesus Christ who sin, but some non-Christians assume that God is a sucker or like a senile old man forgives everyone no matter what we do. They do not realize that their sin offends God. Romans 2:14-16 says that each of us has or at least once had a conscience that was sensitive to sin. But some no longer have that sensitivity due to ongoing patterns of sin in their lives.

For when Gentiles who do not have the Law do instinctively the things of the Law, these, not having the Law, are a law to themselves, in that they show the work of the Law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness and their thoughts alternately accusing or else defending them, on the day when, according to my gospel, God will judge the secrets of men through Christ Jesus. (NASB) Rom. 2:14-16

Conclusion:

If they do not suffer in this life for their sin(s), they will in the judgment to come. Their judgment is sure. Yet, God has provided a way for them to escape His judgment. They can escape by simply believing in Jesus Christ. Pray that he will believe in Jesus Christ. Then ask the Holy Spirit to change his pattern of life.
