Bible Question:

Does God know what we are going to be and do all of our lives?

Bible Answer:

Does God know our every step? The Holy Spirit answers that question with this verse.

For the ways of a man are before the eyes of the LORD, And He watches all his paths. (NASB) Proverbs 5:21

God knows everything we do. He knows our thoughts, our plans, our goals, our sins and our joys.

O LORD, Thou hast searched me and known me. Thou dost know when I sit down and when I rise up; Thou dost understand my thought from afar. Thou dost scrutinize my path and my lying down, and art intimately acquainted with all my ways. Even before there is a word on my tongue, Behold, O LORD, Thou dost know it all. (NASB) Psalm 139:1-4

Does He not see my ways, and number all my steps? (NASB) Job 31:4

For God will bring every act to judgment, everything which is hidden, whether it is good or evil. (NASB) Ecclesiastes 12:14

Woe to those who deeply hide their plans from the LORD, And whose deeds are done in a dark place, And they say, “Who sees us?” or “Who knows us?” (NASB) Isaiah 29:15

We cannot hide from God. God knows everything about us and what we will do in the future. However, that does not mean He approves of what we will do. That has been true since Adam sinned and brought sin into our world.

Therefore I run in such a way, as not without aim; I box in such a way, as not beating the air; but I buffet my body and make it my slave, lest possibly, after I have preached to others, I myself should be disqualified. (NASB) 1 Corinthians 9:26-27
