Bible Question:

Will those who are saved ever see those who are not saved after we die?

Bible Answer:

Before we answer the question, we need to understand what hell is. Some people do not understand hell. It is common to hear some people say they are not going to heaven, but they are looking forward to seeing all of their friends in hell.

Jesus and the apostles paint hell as a place of misery and darkness. It will not be a social time. Hell is not a place to play, party, and watch movies with your friends. The gospels in the New Testament reveal that hell, or the lake of fire, is a place of eternal suffering with fire (Matthew 5:22; 13:42;18:9; Mark 9:43; James 3:6; Revelation 20:15). In hell the wicked will crying and weeping (Matthew 8:12; 13:42; 22:13; Luke 13:28). They will experience so much pain and anguish that they will grind their teeth. Hell is a place of (Matthew 8:12; 22:13; Luke 13:28). But that does not mean the wicked will not know other prisoners in hell (Ezekiel 32:19-21). The flames of hell will be dark, burning with the heat of fire. So it is not surprising there will be pain.

Scripture teaches that not only will Christians see others who are in heaven but others will know who they are. Scripture seems to imply that we will not know those who are in hell or in the Lake of Fire, because there will be no suffering in heaven. Heaven will be a wonderful place.

He shall wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there shall no longer be any death; there shall no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away. And He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” And He said, “Write, for these words are faithful and true.” And He said to me, “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to the one who thirsts from the spring of the water of life without cost . . . (NASB) Revelation 21:4-6

Conclusion:

Since there is no suffering in heaven, Christians will not see non-Christians who are suffering in the eternal Lake of Fire. Christians will see other Christians. It will be wonderful. But the best part will be to spend eternity with God. Christians are going to have a party with God!
