Prophecy – Jesus Christ’s Ancestor Is Judah

The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, until he comes to whom it belongs and the obedience of the nation is his. Genesis 49:10 (NIV)
Fulfillment
Date: 2 B.C.
Abraham was the father of Isaac, Isaac the father of Jacob, Jacob the father of Judah . . . Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ. Matthew 1:2, 16 (NIV)
Therefore Pilate entered again into the Praetorium, and summoned Jesus and said to Him, “Are You the King of the Jews?” Jesus answered, “Are you saying this on your own initiative, or did others tell you about Me?” John 18:33

This prophetic reference is about Christ or the Messiah, who would be the ruler or King. He would descend from Judah. A Jewish reference to this passage says, “How noble is the King, Messiah, who is going to rise from the house of Judah.” Jesus Christ’s ancestor is Judah.
