Physical Thirst
Physical Thirst
The warm Arizona Sonoran desert can reach as high as 105 to 117 degrees. It is dry and the need for water is not always felt as thirst. Sadly, every year people become ill due to heat stroke and some die. We are not always aware of our physical needs.

Spiritually Dry
Spiritually Dry
In like manner, many people are not aware of their spiritual needs. Some of us are not aware that we have spiritual needs because we have "sin stroke." We are truly thirsty for God, but we do not realize it. We are in need of spiritual water - living water that only God gives.

Living Water
Living Water
It was noon when Jesus finished His long walk. He was sitting by a water well, when a Samaritan woman came by. Jesus asked her for a drink. As they talked, she realized she was spiritually thirsty, spiritually needy and searching for God. So Jesus offered her "living water." She was eager for this "living water." She desired to never be spiritually thirsty again.

Rivers of Water
Rivers of Water
As they talked she came to believe that He was the Messiah. So she asked Jesus for the living water. Jesus said, "He who believes in Me, as the scripture has said, 'From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water (John 7:38).'" This living water is the Holy Spirit living inside us. Like her, we who believe in Jesus will find our sins forgiven and peace in our relationship with God. We will also have a new desire to know all that we can know about God.
