Evidence You Are . . .  
     
 

The self inventory looks at the passions and desires of your heart in order to determine if you are a Christian. The questions below are not about your conduct but about who you are. They look at your heart attitudes. They are marks which indicate you are spiritually alive. Here are some questions to ask yourself.

Now ask yourself these questions . . .

 

Is Jesus my Lord or master?

 

". . . and no one can say, 'Jesus is Lord,' except by the Holy Spirit. " (NASB) 1 Corinthians 12:3

 

Do I want to obey God?

 

" . . . we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments. The one who says, 'I . . . know Him,' and does not keep His commandments, is a liar . . ." (NASB) 1 John 2:3-4

 

Do I pursue holiness?

 

"By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God . . . " (NASB) 1 John 3:10

 

Do I love Jesus?

 

"If anyone does not love the Lord, he is to be accursed. Maranatha." (NASB) 1Cor. 16:22

 

Do I confess my sins to God?

 

"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (NASB) 1 John 1:9

 

Do I love others?

 

"The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love." (NASB) 1 John 4:8

 

Do I love the world more than God?

 

"If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in Him." (NASB) 1 John 2:15

 

Is the fruit of the Spirit obvious in my life?

 

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control . . ." (NASB) Gal. 5:22

 

Do I believe that Jesus is the Christ or the promised Messiah?

 

"Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God . . . " (NASB) 1 John 5:1

 

Do I really believe that God came in the flesh and was called Jesus?

 

" . . . every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God." (NASB) 1 John 4:2

 

Do I believe the teachings of Jesus' apostles?

 

"We are from God; he who knows God listens to us . . . " (NASB) 1 John 4:6
