Bible Question:
I cannot betray the Father God by loving anyone more than Him.
I believe in Jesus and the Holy Spirit, but in my heart I worship
only the Father. Am I wrong?
Bible Answer:
There is nothing wrong with worshipping God the Father and Jesus
Christ. In the verses that follow you will see that many worshiped
Jesus when He was here on this earth.
Magi
Worshiped Jesus. The first people who worshiped
Jesus were the magi. They had come to Jerusalem looking for
Jesus and they were directed to Bethlehem. Once they arrived,
here is what they did.

|
And they came into the house and saw the Child with Mary
His mother; and they fell down and worshiped Him. (NASB)
Matt. 2:11
|
Now was this a mistake by these men? The answer is no.
Disciples Worshiped Jesus. Even Jesus' disciples
worshiped Jesus.
|
|
And those who were in the boat worshiped Him, saying,
You are certainly Gods Son! (NASB) Matt.
14:33
And they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and
great joy and ran to report it to His disciples. And behold,
Jesus met them and greeted them. And they came up and
took hold of His feet and worshiped Him. (NASB) Matt.

Jesus' disciples worshiped Jesus and He never told them to stop
or that they had sinned. The first passage helps us understand
how to worship. Worship is not just singing songs. Worship is
giving honor to God with our lips. Worship is not just emotions.
It is praise. It is giving glory to God.
All of Us Should Worship Him. So it is not surprising
that the apostle Paul encourages us to worship Jesus in the
book of Philippians.
|
|
. . . for we are the true circumcision, who worship in
the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no
confidence in the flesh . . . (NASB) Philippians 3:3
|
Angels Worship Jesus. The angels worship Jesus
too.
|
|
And when He again brings the first-born into the world,
He says, AND LET ALL THE ANGELS OF GOD WORSHIP HIM.
(NASB) Heb 1:6
|
Conclusion:
If the disciples worshiped Jesus, if we are encouraged to worship
Jesus, and if the angels have worshiped Jesus, then we can worship
too! In fact, we worship God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the
Holy Spirit in our songs and when we speak or write things that
give them honor. Holy, holy, Holy!
