1 Samuel goes on to tell us that God gave them a king - King Saul. This was not the best for them, but God allowed it. Listen to Hosea.

Where now is your king That he may save you in all your cities, And your judges of whom you requested, "Give me a king and princes"? I gave you a king in My anger, And took him away in My wrath. (NASB) Hosea 13:10-11

Does God respond to our prayers? Yes, He does! He will act differently towards us when we are sinning compared to when we are seeking to live righteously. When we turn from evil, God treats us differently.

Thus says the LORD, 'Stand in the court of the LORD'S house, and speak to all the cities of Judah, who have come to worship in the LORD'S house, all the words that I have commanded you to speak to them. Do not omit a word! Perhaps they will listen and everyone will turn from his evil way, that I may repent of the calamity which I am planning to do to them because of the evil of their deeds.' (NASB) Jeremiah 26:2-3 |
One passage the Holy Spirit has been impressing upon me is found in James 4:2.
| |
You lust and do not have; so you commit murder. And you are envious and cannot obtain; so you fight and quarrel. You do not have because you do not ask. (NASB) James 4:2 |
The passage is very clear that God will not automatically do things for us. We must ask. We must ask to receive.
Conclusion: May I encourage you to make your requests known to Him for He cares for you. |
