We can know the Holy Spirit is inside us when we really mean the words, "Jesus is Lord" of my life - when Jesus really is my Lord - when I obey Him! We can also know the Holy Spirit is inside us when we see love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness and self-control growing more and more in our life. It is a growth process, and these things become more obvious with time. This is the real key! This is the message of Galatians 5.

The evidence of the Spirit coming on us is described in this verse. It is a command and not an option. The Greek implies that it is something we are to be constantly doing. We are commanded to always be filled with the Holy Spirit. What is the evidence? The evidence of the Holy Spirit coming on us is singing, real worship, peace in our heart, and an attitude of thanksgiving.
