Bible Question: I always thought that God created everything, but someone told me that Jesus did. If God created the world, did Jesus ever create anything? Thanks.   Bible Answer: You are correct, God did create everything. Note the following two passages,     In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. (NASB) Genesis 1:1   It is I who made the earth, and created man upon it. I stretched out the heavens with My hands, And I ordained all their host. (NASB) Isa 45:12   Both of these passages tell us that God created everything. There are many other passages we could read, but these give us the facts. The Isaiah passage is very meaningful because God declares that He created everything - humans, heaven, earth, stars, planets, and moons.      Jesus Created Everything Too. But scripture also tells us that Jesus created everything. Listen to this passage,     For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities--all things have been created by Him and for Him. (NASB) Colossians 1:16   The pronoun "Him" refers to Jesus. This can be determined by reading verse 13. That is, Jesus made everything too. He made the heavens (heaven, stars, planets, and moons), earth and even the things we do not see such as the spirits. Not only did Jesus create everything but He continues to hold everything together too.     . . . Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we exist through Him. (NASB) 1 Corinthians 8:6   All things came into being by Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. (NASB) John 1:3   Who is Jesus? Who has this much power? Who has this kind of intelligence and wisdom! Who ever He is, He is the creator of the universe!     But of the Son He says, "THY THRONE, O GOD, IS FOREVER AND EVER . . . And, "THOU, LORD, IN THE BEGINNING DIDST LAY THE FOUNDATION OF THE EARTH, AND THE HEAVENS ARE THE WORKS OF THY HANDS . . . (NASB) Hebrews 1:1-2, 8-10   This is a remarkable statement. It says that "the Son," who is Jesus Christ, is God and that He made the heavens and the earth. This can mean only one thing. God is Jesus and Jesus is God who made everything!   Conclusion:  You may want to read two important studies. The first one is entitled, "Who Is God?" and the second one is called "Jesus Our Savior." Jesus is God our Savior the one who created everything - the things we see and the world we do not see.       < Back
