Bible Question: Why should a person become saved? What are the benefits?
Bible Answer: Can we start by asking why a person should not be saved? Then
we will look at the benefits of being saved.
Reasons Not To Be Saved. There is one major reason a person may not want to be saved. That reason is that he or she is willing to meet a holy God who will send him/her to hell which eventually ends up in the Lake of Fire.

For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them
into hell and committed them to pits of darkness, reserved for
judgment . . . to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the
day of judgment. (NASB) 2 Peter 2:4, 9
And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life,
he was thrown into the lake of fire . . . the lake that burns
with fire and brimstone, which is the second death." (NASB) Rev.
20:15; 21:8
And these will go away into eternal punishment . . . (NASB) Matt.
25:46 |
1st Benefit of Being Saved. There are several benefits to being saved. The first is that
we are at peace with God,
| |
Therefore having been justified by faith, we have peace with God
through our Lord Jesus Christ. (NASB) Rom. 5:1 |
and no longer enemies of God (Rom. 5;10),
| |
For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through
the death of His Son, much more . . . we shall be saved by His
life. (NASB) Rom. 5:10 |
To be saved means that we are trusting Christ to forgive our sins and give us peace with God. Trusting comes
about when we understand that Jesus is God,
| |
. . . looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory
of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus. (NASB) Titus 2:13 |
and that He died so that He could forgive our sins,
| |
For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received,
that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and
that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according
to the Scriptures. (NASB) 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 |
2nd Benefit. Many Christians are not aware that everyone will live for eternity. The real question is where will we live? We will either live in punishment or with God.
| |
And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous
into eternal life. (NASB) Matt. 25:46 |
