Bible Question: Does the Eucharist or The Lamb's Supper reveal the long-lost secret of the Church as the early Eastern Christian Fathers interpreted as the key to understanding the mysteries of the New Testament's Book of Revelation? It seems that the Book of Revelation's bizarre imagery, its mystic visions of heaven, and its end-of-time prophecies, do in fact mirror the sacrifice and celebration of the Eucharist.   Bible Answer: The Eucharist or as many Christians call it the Lord's Supper or Lamb's Supper has no connection with the book of Revelation. The Lamb's Supper is ceremony that Jesus Christ established to remind us of His death for the forgiveness of our sins. The instructions for the Lamb's Supper are found in 1 Corinthians 11:23-26,     For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it, and said, "This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me. "In the same way He took the cup also, after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me." For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until He comes. (NASB) 1 Corinthians 11:23-26.   The Lamb's Supper is a reminder that Jesus died. Why did Jesus die? 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 tell us,     For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures. (NASB) 1 Corinthians 15:3-4.   Jesus died for our sins. He died so we could have our sins forgiven. By believing and trusting in Him - nothing else - He will forgive our sins. The Lamb's Supper is remembering what Jesus did for us. The Lamb's Supper is a continual reminder until He returns.     The only possible connection with Revelation is the return of Jesus. The Lamb's Supper is to be repeated until Jesus returns. Revelation is about judgment and Jesus returns in Revelation 19. There is no long-lost secret of the church according to the Bible.   Conclusion: The church does not have a long-lost secret, so there is no connection to the Eucharist. Christians are only missing the joy of being with their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.       < Back
