Question:I read your study on the four Greek generals and
the little horn. Are you stating that the little horn arises from
the Greek empire or the Roman empire? The book of Daniel states the
little horn arises from the fourth empire which is the Roman empire.
Just wondering if I missed something in the study.
Bible Answer: The book of Daniel refers to
a "little horn" in Daniel 7:8, a "large horn" in
Daniel 8:8, and a "small horn" in Daniel 8:9. The little
horn in Daniel 7 arises from the ruins of the old Roman Empire. The little
horn will be a future world ruler who removes three other rulers and
then takes control of the world. Here is Daniel 7:8,
While I was contemplating the horns, behold, another
horn, a little one, came up among them, and three of the first horns
were pulled out by the roots before it; and behold, this horn possessed
eyes like the eyes of a man and a mouth uttering great boasts. Dan 7:8
(NAS95S)
Daniel 8:8 refers to a large horn. This large horn is Alexander
the Great who died after expanding his empire into India. After
his death the Greek Empire was divided by his four generals into four
sections.
Then the male goat magnified himself exceedingly. But
as soon as he was mighty, the large horn was broken; and in its place
there came up four conspicuous horns toward the four winds of heaven.
Dan 8:8 (NAS95S)
Daniel 8:9 introduces us to a small horn which is Antiochus Epiphanes.
Out of one of them came forth a rather small horn which
grew exceedingly great toward the south, toward the east, and toward
the Beautiful Land. Dan 8:9 (NAS95S)
Conclusion:May God bless you as you study.
